Cirque du Soleil unveils LUZIA
LUZIA
A new touring show under the Big Top
in Montreal’s Old Port starting April 21
Additional performances in Montreal
Cirque du Soleil unveiled today in Montreal its new production: LUZIA. The show will be performed under the Big Top in Montreal’s Old Port starting April 21, and at the Port Lands in Toronto starting July 28.
The show
LUZIA takes you to an imaginary Mexico, like in a waking dream, where light quenches the spirit and rain soothes the soul.
Freely inspired by Mexico, LUZIA is a poetic and acrobatic ode to the rich, vibrant culture of a country whose wealth stems from an extraordinary mix of influences and creative collisions – a land that inspires awe with its breathtaking landscapes and architectural wonders, buoyed by the indomitable spirit of its people.
The tableaux of LUZIA weave an intricate, contemporary mosaic that awakens your senses and transports you to a place suspended between dreams and reality.
LUZIA has a cast of 44 artists from 15 different countries and is Cirque du Soleil’s 38th production since 1984.
The creative team LUZIA’s creative team comprises 16 creators under the artistic guidance of Guy Laliberté (Guide) and Jean-François Bouchard (Creative Guide):

LUZIA Album Inspired by the Music of the Show
LUZIA features original music written by Canadian composer Simon Carpentier. The LUZIA album takes Carpentier’s original music written for a live acoustic setting and passes it through the filter of the electro-pop of Nortec Collective’s Bostich + Fussible, infused with brassy Mexican and Latin American sounds. As of April 1st, iTunes users in North America (U.S./Canada/Mexico) can enjoy an exclusive sneak peek of the LUZIA album with a free download of the song “Así Es La Vida.” With every pre-order of the album on iTunes, customers will also receive an instant download of “Tiembla la Tierra.” The full LUZIA album will be available exclusively on iTunes as of April 15th and on other sites globally as of April 22nd. For album pre-order and exclusive free download, visit www.itunes.com/luzia.
Prestige VIP Packages
Various Prestige VIP Packages giving access to the best seats and a delectable culinary pre-show experience are available for selected Montreal performances of LUZIA.
